Moving from abroad to ’s-Hertogenbosch
Are you moving from abroad to ’s-Hertogenbosch? Or will you be staying in the Netherlands for at least four months within the next six months? Make an appointment to register with the municipality. Be sure to arrange your registration within five days of your arrival in the Netherlands.
Conditions
You must register with us if you will be in the Netherlands for at least four months in the coming half year. Additionally, you must have valid residency. This can be demonstrated with one of the following documents:
- A Dutch passport; or
- A passport from an EU country; or
- A passport from Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, or Switzerland; or
- A valid residence permit.
How to register
How you can register in the Personal Records Database (BRP) depends on your situation. Choose your situation to get more information.
I have never lived in the Netherlands before
Start by sharing your details through a preregistration. Once you have completed your preregistration, we will send you an email. This email will contain instructions on how to schedule a personal appointment. This appointment is required to complete your registration. After your personal appointment, you will be assigned a citizen service number (BSN). We will send your BSN to you by post as soon as possible.
If you prefer not to preregister, you can schedule a regular appointment instead. Please note that regular appointments may take longer to process than those following preregistration.
Are you an asylum seeker or status holder? Then you cannot register with the municipality of ’s-Hertogenbosch. You must register at a so-called “BRP-straat”. The COA will tell you where and when you can register. More information is available on the COA website.
I have lived in the Netherlands before and want to re-register
Make a personal appointment to re-register.
Warning! Were you registered in the Netherlands before 1994? And have you not lived in the Netherlands since then? Then we consider your registration as a first registration. Press “I have never lived in the Netherlands before” to find out how to arrange your registration.
What to bring to the appointment
Everyone in your family moving to the Netherlands must come to the appointment. For each person moving to the Netherlands, bring:
- Passport or European identity card
- Residence permit (if required for your country)
Birth certificate, marriage certificate and/or divorce certificate
If your birth, marriage, or divorce took place outside the Netherlands, and this has not yet been registered in the Netherlands, please bring your birth certificate, marriage certificate, or divorce certificate. For details on document requirements, visit the page Submitting documents from abroad on our website. It is not mandatory to provide these documents during your registration. However, you will be required to submit them at a later stage.
